Fall is undoubtably the best time of year to be a mountain biker in the Ozarks. Leaves are changing, the temps are cooler, and the bugs are slowly disappearing. About the only downside we can think of is that the sun is setting earlier and available daylight is disappearing as well. Here's to jam-packing the weekends full of riding, and to getting those lights charged up for must have weeknight rides.
The Board of Directors would like to thank everyone that spent the summer hanging out at Cookie Rides, hitting up work days, and rocking out the festival scene at the Singletrack Mind Festival. It was an exciting summer and we really enjoyed enhancing the culture and ambiance of mountain biking this year. One of the most memorable images from this summer would be the heckle scene during the Enduro Race at Two Rivers Mountain Bike Park, Labor Day Weekend. We heard so many rumors... and have the photos to prove it. Nice tan, Jake!
So with Summer ending and Fall in full effect, be sure to check out all the events on our Facebook Page. There is so much to do it will make your head spin! Here is a list of upcoming events that you can expect to see MORC at:
October 7th, 8th, and 9th: BT Epic Prep Weekend. Scott and Jake are getting the Berryman Trail ready for the BT Epic and are inviting MORC down to hang out in Steeleville, Mo. Great weekend to get away and help these guys prep for a great event.
October 22nd: The BT Epic Mountain Bike Race. Registration is already full on this one, but that doesn't mean you can't join us for the after party Saturday Night. This is one of the best events in Missouri and well worth the trip. Sunday would be a great day to ride the Berryman Trail and explore portions of the race course.
October 29th: Back 40 Mountain Bike Trip. We are meeting at the Blowing Springs trailhead at 9:00 AM to join up with members of OORC and explore the premier mountain biking trail in the Ozarks. The Back 40 was built by the best trail builders in America and represents so many different riding styles. We will get a schedule together for loop times and meet ups, but for now, get your favorite riding buddies together and put this one on the calendar.
November 6th: Thorn-a-Thon. How it works: Download the pledge form from the event page, convince your family and friends to give you money for every 2 mile lap you can accomplish in a six hour period. Ride 1 lap, ride 40 laps. It is up to you. The top fundraiser for this event wins a custom James Dale Catron trophy that will be the envy of all your friends and family. We will be getting pledge sheets and trophy pics up soon, so start greasing those wheels now!
November 9th-13th: IMBA Summit. The summit is IMBA's largest event and this year it takes place in our neighbor's back yard: Bentonville, Arkasnas. It is one of the motivating factors for so much recent trail growth in Northwest Arkansas. Get on IMBA's website and check out the list of events and seminars. Do not miss Danny Macaskill show off his amazing talent at The Railyard in Rogers, Friday Night. The guy can jam on a bike and we are looking forward to the opportunity to witness his riding skills in person.
That's all for now, I heard a bunch of members made it to the Southwest for a little fall primer. I can't wait to check out all the cool pics of MORC in Moab and the great stories from the trailhead.
